Hicks Hall & Teaching Gardens Conceptual Redesign
This project was a collaborative design competition completed in ARC 486 that challenged student teams to reimagine the historic Hicks Hall building at Farmingdale State College as a dignitary accommodation while strengthening its connection to the Teaching Gardens. Working interdisciplinary with Urban Horticulture students, we researched precedents, developed a full building program, and explored multiple site-specific concepts before refining a final schematic design. The work included conceptual sketches, plans, sections, elevations, site analysis, and interior/exterior 3D representations, all presented as a formal competition entry that balanced historic preservation, modern interventions, and landscape integration.
